It was a fun day, but the suicide race ended up being an extreme disappointment, since we basically missed seeing it. We went to the rodeo and were advised by others to leave during the bull riding event to make it to the riverside to watch the race. As we made our way to the area amongst swarms of people, we found a spot to stand where we could barely peek thru the heads of those in front of us. We put the kids on our shoulders so at least they might get to see, but as soon as the horses charged down the hill, people shoved and pushed all around us and I wound up looking at a big fat cowboy hat in front of me. So....after all the years of waiting, we walked away feeling a little let down! Maybe there'll be a next time (just for the race)...

Megan came to stay with Grandma D. a few days early before her brother and sister. Her and Ashlyn are fellow horse fans, so this was a pretty special day for them :)
playing with some horse puppets they got.
There was an indian camp set up, but we didn't see much of the dancing going on.
My pictures of the rodeo events pretty much turned out blurry for some reason, so this is the clearest thing I got from the start of it.
As we made our way to the suicide race area, we got to follow this guy - I couldn't resist snapping a discreet picture, then quickly detouring! (READ SHIRT!)
